On Friday we celebrated Liz’s birthday with tea, cake and knitting.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrated friendship and birthdays.

On Saturday I held a Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and didn’t get a single photo of it…we were all too busy enjoying the company and the unseasonally hot weather.

I have a personal reason for supporting Macmillan nurses.  When I was too far away and too embroiled in imminent adotion to travel to the other side of the country, the Macmillan nurses supported my parents during Dad’s last days.  I am more grateful than I can adequately express so was honoured to be able to hold this small event to raise funds for them.

Again there was tea and coffee and cake.  There was knitting and the happy sound of newly acquainted children playing like old friends.  There was home made jam and shortbread to buy.  And donations of yarn to swell our depleted stashes.

And so far we have raised £171 and we still have some jam and yarn to find new homes, so this total may yet rise a little more.

We are thrilled.

If you’d like to support Macmillan nurses you can do so here.  Families like mine will be grateful to you.
