Nooooo…the padded room, however tempting it may seem, isn’t beckoning just yet*
Since putting my hat in the ring for the Stashbusting Sewalong, I’ve been trying to think of how I can marry the urge to sew all of my stash fabric with my new commitment not to plan every second of my life into oblivion.
At the back of my mind for some time the Baker’s Dozen dress project has been fermenting.
I have lots of lovely dress patterns I want to make.
I have lots of lovely dress fabric waiting to be sewn.
Dresses are perfect for busy school days…throw on a cardigan and you’re good to go.
The Husband loves me in dresses. Call me old fashioned, but I like receiving compliments from Hubby.
So…here we go…
“I, Evie of Pendle Stitches ,commit to using 13 pieces of stash fabric in 2013 to complete the Baker’s Dozen Dress Project, using only stash patterns too”
This is going to be fun.
This week I’m hoping to clear out the sewing loft, fit the toile for Hubby’s shirt, and allocate fabric to patterns. Once I know what the Baker’s Dozen are…I’ll share with you.
* Please don’t be offended…I take mental illness very seriously.
In my immediate circle there are 4 people on medication for depression, 2 for bi-polar disorder and one for paranoid schizophrenia.
That’s a whole bunch of serious stuff…but none of these folk are defined by their health status. And we all crack “crazy” jokes like they’re going out of fashion.

If you can admit it, so can I! Your bravery and urge to make dresses has moved me. Now wheres that button! Im in!
Yay! You go girl! We can do this…these stashes won’t know what’s hit them!
They wil be surprised!!
Ha…that’ll teach them to be such trouble!
Good Luck!
I may need it! ;-0
Sounds like fun, half the fun is in the planning too
I just spent a happy half hour pulling all my patterns out, sorting them into piles (dresses, skirts, etc) and putting them neatly into boxes. Next…fabric.
Have fun! I’m liking that dress, simple and cute!
It’s an adorable pattern. I’m really excited about making it. I’m hopeful it will become a TNT. Fingers crossed.
I can’t wait to see what you create. I always say I’d like to do more dresses, but never do. I’m looking forward to lots of inspiration!
I’m hoping they turn out to be inspiring!
I love a dress too, so easy compared to trying to put together skirts/trousers and tops. Good luck with the Baker’s dozen. I won’t be joining as I’ve not yet sorted out all my fitting issues, but I’m looking forward to seeing your creations.
I haven’t resolved fitting issues either..but I’m hoping by the end of this project I’ll have it cracked!
Oooh, I can’t wait to see that dress made up — what a cute pattern!
Isn’t it just. I couldn’t resist it…I tried…and failed miserably.
Thirteen dresses – I like that! My hubby also likes me in dresses and skirts and I seldom wear them… maybe I should make more of an effort this year.
I’ve got some skirts in my head too. I’ve really come back to dresses and skirts in the past year. I still love trousers and jeans, but definitely need more ‘girly’ stuff in the wardrobe.
That’s a cool plan! I was thinking of a challenge myself. Can’t wait to see what you pick…a washi maybe?
For sure…and possibly more than one!
Ooooo! I think I might have just discovered what I’m going to make with the lovely fabric you gave me!! I’ve never seen the Amelia dress pattern before and it’s so simple and beautiful, think it might be perfect for the drape and print of the cupro!
Good luck with the challenge, sounds like a fun one. Any reason to have a good look through my pattern stash sounds fun anyway!
I think Amelia might just be the thing for the cupro. I bought my copy from The Village Haberdashery online…great service.
I’ve had a blast today playing with fabric and patterns…I highly recommend it!
Ooh, love that pattern and fabric! That’s gonna make a super cute dress!
I’m really excited. I’m hoping to have a plan finalised today and the table clear so I can crack on with the husbands shirt…and then get to sewing for ME!
Gosh you are good and what a bril idea particularly as spring is on its way. Soon I promise!
I didn’t know about the Green Pea patterns – thanks Evie for posting this one ….
I’m considering joining in too …. the stash busting thing that is cos I do have a shed load of sewing to do and a bloody good kick up the pants would do me good. Hmmm.
I needed a kick up the pants too. There were dustwebs on the sewing machine! It seems to have worked…we shall see.
I can’t remember where I stumbled across Green Pea…but that dress is too adorable to ignore!
