Oh, Santa was good to me this year.
He knew my mojo was lying prostrate on the rug with a bottle of wine and a bag of liquorice allsorts.

So he brought me a pile of inspiration to kick Miss Mojo up the derrière and get her back at the needles and machine.

Oh, such wonderful styles and ideas.

The Gentle Art of Quilt-making by Jane Brocket
Stunning quilts that even a novice like me can make. And oh, the fabric choices!
These books are definitely working their magic on me.
But Santa didn’t stop there….

2 mtrs of Art Gallery Voile – Praline Honey
This is from The Husband…isn’t he just the best?! It’s so beautiful…breathtakingly soft and such vibrant colours.
And Fiona from Diary of a Chain Stitcher, who was my partner in the Sew Very Merry Christmas Swap organised by Vicki, sent me the most sublime jersey in a very regal purple.

It has Tiramisu written all over it and I’m so thrilled with it. Fiona really hit the nail on the head with this fabric…she has fabulous taste! Thank you so much, Fiona.
My head is buzzing with ideas of things I want to make. A baker’s dozen of dresses. The school run project. Coats for me and Button. Hats for The Husband and The Boy. Quilts up the Wazoo!
I’m hoping to get a couple of UFO’s finished this weekend, and a bit of mending, and then the table will be clear for new sewing projects.
And first up will be…..

I’m not sure what fashion crack (thank you Tim Gunn) they were smoking when they came up with this cover shot, but the line drawing shows a good basic shirt pattern:
This is to be one of my Christmas gifts to The Husband. I have the most fabulous navy/white gingham with coordinating stripe cotton from The Cloth House for him. It’s a brave new world for me, shirt-making, but I’ve been promising to sew for him for years and he’s feeling more than neglected!
So I’m hoping this will start to make it up to him.
Fingers crossed!
You lucky, lucky lady – so many wonderful things to inspire! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it all. I too bought the Tiramisú pattern but think it will be a while until I can get to it…
I know…I’ve got the best friends and family!
My Tiramisu will have to wait a while too…but hopefully not too long!
Give that guy an award! Awesome gifts!!
And this is why I married him!
Books were from friends…they are amazing too. But what guy buys fabric? And pays attention to the stuff you’re looking at and like?
Oo, very nice! Loving the purple jersey… Shall we be partners in crime, pushing each other on to getting something done for our “handmade-poor” husbands? ;p
I think that’s a splendid idea. I’m hoping to finish the little jeans today so I can finally get round to cutting out the pattern! I’m rather pleased with myself that I’ve actually got everything I need to get going with this shirt except Mojo and buttons…I’m waiting on those until I’m ready for them so he can choose ones he likes.
Brilliant! I’m afraid I am nowhere near that ready to begin shirt making, but I will do at least one this year! Hope you find some Mojo!!
Maybe we should have a men’s sewing week, a la KCWC or me-made-may!
oo, excellent idea! best i get jungle january out of the way quickly then!
It’s an idea that is sitting in my head and won’t go away….
How wonderful! The swatch book is amazing, I use mine a lot, even if its just to work out in a tactile way what another blogger is describing. That jersey is uh-may-zing and such a fabulous colour!
Isn’t it just the most lovely fabric. The great thing is that I love it but probably wouldn’t have chosen it for myself. So thank YOU for organising such a great swap!
And I do love the swatch book. I’m hopeless at fabric knowledge. Not any more…
Oh, what lovely inspiration, can’t wait to see the shirt, sounds wonderful
I’m more than a little nervous. He thinks I’m a far better seamstress than I really am. We shall see how we get on.
The cables book looks delicious – looking forward to seeing your creations from it.
I must do a bit of a review…it’s just wonderful. I’m particularly in love with the cover sweater. Swoon!
Oh wow I didn’t know there was a swatch book. And you got it for Christmas? Wow. And and and Cont. Cables, and and and. Wow you have some haul. I am still picking myself up off the floor about the fabric from your lovely lovely Mr Stitches. Such gorgeousness abounds chez Stitches this festive season to be sure.
Isn’t he just the best?!?!?! I knew there was a reason I married him!
I mean, this is the man who bought me a CoverPro one Christmas.
*happy dance*
I’m a very very very lucky girl.
